How Long Does it Take to Become a Massage Therapist in California?

Posted by Burke Williams on Feb 08, 2023

As we move forward in life there are times when we begin to explore new careers and recently Burke Williams has seen far more interest in people looking to become massage therapists in California, though they have questions about the process and how long it will take. This post sheds more light on the topic.

The first step to becoming a massage therapist in California is to enroll in an accredited/licensed school that’s approved by the California Massage Therapy Council (CAMTC), which is key! You need to ensure the coursework and hours spent go towards receiving your license.

Looking specifically at how long it will take to become a massage therapist, the minimum is 500 hours though many schools offer 950 hours and it takes around 10 months to complete. And if you’re serious about massage therapy it’s well worth it.

As a leader in the luxury day spa industry for almost 40 years, Burke Williams is always looking to hire massage therapists and we offer tuition reimbursement programs along with a variety of other benefits, including competitive pay.
