Fight the Flu and Look Gorgeous Doing It

Traditional cold and flu remedies are the opposite of glamorous. It’s hard to feel ready for the red carpet with Vicks vapor rub smeared all over your sternum and dark bags under your eyes.

Cold and flu season may be upon us, but the drug store isn't the only resource at our disposal. If you’re feeling under the weather, a quick trip to the spa can make you feel and look better. We think these secrets are for sharing. Sit down, take notes and learn how to beat the cold season with our three tips.

Get steamy. Steam is a powerful ally when you’re feeling sick and can help you look your best. Not only will a visit to the sauna soothe your sore throat and clear out the sinuses, it'll also help you sweat out much of the dirt and oil that your skin absorbs throughout the day. If you can’t make it to the spa or the sauna for some real pampering, a long, hot bath will do the trick. If you’re really stuffed up, try adding some rejuvenating eucalyptus oil to your steam at home.

Hydrate and tighten. Wiping and blowing your nose for days on end can leave it raw and red. Give it some much-needed care with an ultra-rich moisturizer like Quench. Hydrating with a moisturizer at least once a day will help keep your nose – and the rest of your face – smooth and avoid irritation.

Drink lots of tea. Drinking fluids is incredibly important when you’re sick. Rather than consuming bottles of water, help your body and your mind with regular doses of herbal tea. A tea with gotu kola, chamomile, and ginger will give you all the hydration you need while promoting healthy skin and digestion.

Cleanse. Clear yourself of the toxins that are polluting your healthy state ofbeing. A fresh restart to your system will help rejuvenate your body and replenish the nutrients that have been depleted due to fighting off viruses. After your cleanse, take a much needed day at the spa to feel fully renewed.

Don’t let the flu keep you from looking your best this season. When you come down with the sniffles, it's an excuse to pamper yourself! Hydrate your skin with a spa-quality moisturizer, soak yourself in steam and drink lots of tea. You’ll look and feel better in no time at all.
