Name: Delmi Gavarette

Title: Esthetician and Massage Therapist

Location: Burke Williams - Hollywood

How long with the company: 20 years

How did you end up at Burke Williams, and what drew you to work here?
I first applied to Burke Williams in March 2005, encouraged by a friend who worked on the cleaning crew. He spoke so highly of the company that I felt inspired to apply and I’m so glad I did!

Tell us about your journey. What positions have you held, and what drew you to grow?
I started as a spa attendant, always eager to learn and take on new challenges. I transitioned into concierge and then distribution, where I learned a lot about the products we offer. My curiosity about skincare grew, and I began asking estheticians about their roles. Eventually, in 2013, I became an esthetician. Over time, I noticed that during my treatments, especially the 22-point acupressure massage, clients would leave feeling a release of tension. This sparked my interest in muscles and their function, which led me to become a certified massage therapist in 2020. Today, I am proud to be both an esthetician and massage therapist at Burke Williams.

What inspired you to pursue both specialties?
I love learning and have always been drawn to skincare. As I worked with guests, I realized I could provide even more benefits by offering massage. I’m results-driven, and combining these two specialties allows me to deliver the best care possible.

What is it like juggling two specialties?
It’s rewarding, exciting, and never boring! I stay on my toes and love being able to give my best to every guest.

How do you prevent burnout?
I take very good care of my body and practice what I preach. I ground myself before each shift and set a good intention for everything I do. I also make use of the wellness programs offered by Burke Williams; it really helps me stay balanced.

I understand you have a high return rate. What’s your secret?
My current return rate is 60–70%! Honestly, there’s no secret potion. I genuinely care about my guests, and I think that shows in my service. I respect the trust they place in me, and I strive to give them the best experience every time.

What advice would you give someone interested in being a dual technician?
Go for it! It’s fun, doable, and it allows you to alternate between services for balance. Being skilled in both areas opens more opportunities in this very competitive industry.

What are the biggest misconceptions about estheticians or massage therapists?
Some people think massage is just an indulgence, but for me and many of my guests, it’s preventive care. I love teaching techniques and stretches to help with posture, injuries, and chronic pain.

Is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers?
Burke Williams is a wonderful company to work for. I’ve been here over 20 years, and I take huge pride in my work. The opportunities to grow are endless. The sky is the limit!
