New York Fashion Week never fails to usher in a whirlwind of new trends. Amidst the versatile styles that ruled the runways of NYC in February, there were reoccurring looks that shined at multiple shows. Many stylists and designers revived the irresistible allure of cherry red lips, extended glamour all the way down to the fingertips, and opted for loose braids and ponytails in lieu of rigid buns. Overall, the 2015 New York Fashion Week revealed a handful of trends that are fun and inspiring, and can translate into everyday wear. Check out some of the most popular styles to grace the runways, along with 2014 fads to bid adieu to.Sensual open mouth with red tube of lipstick

Negative Space Manicures
Nail care is transcending the traditional polished look and venturing into the world of negative space manicures. The trend allows a bit of naked nail to show through, and the creative options are endless. French tips are only beginning, allowing nail technicians (and home manicurists) to run wild with everything from zig-zags to checkered patterns. To achieve the look at home, apply tape to the section of the nail that you want to remain free from polish. After the colored portion has dried, treat the entire nail with a clear topcoat and the look is complete.

Perfectly Plum
Romantic shades of purple were draped throughout the 2015 runways in various forms of fabric, accessories, and even makeup. Designers ran wild with deep shades of purple and light lavenders alike, making every hue of plum an eye-catching smash. The secret to the unexpected shade’s success was finding a neutral version of the color that compliments skin tones, rather than overpowering them. Whether sporting a lilac jacket or plum eye shadow, find a shade that blends naturally.

Red Lipstick Revived

Red lipstick isn’t exactly a revelation, but considering the fashion world’s recent fascination with nude and earth tone lip color there’s no denying it has been hibernating a bit. Style trends have once again embraced bold, red lips and starlets like Taylor Swift and icons like Madonna are reviving kissable, cherry red lips. What’s the key to keeping scarlet shades where they should stay? Makeup artists advise that a lip liner will keep a vibrant color in place. Apply the outline first then layer on lipstick for a full, voluptuous look.

Trends to Bid Adieu to in 2015

Floral Crowns
With the popularity of peasant-inspired styles on the rise, flower children of every age were seen sporting faux flower crowns in 2014. The spirit of the sixties is alive and well, but it can live on through mediums that don’t include silk flowers. Hang up the floral crown and try a low ponytail or loose braid.

Pastel Hair
Katy Perry, Ke$ha, and Lady Gaga all rocked shades of Easter egg pastel in 2014, but the trend is quickly dissipating. Instead of watered down pastels think about donning low lights or brightening up your ‘do with a natural lightened look.
